Leisure and Tourism Psychology

 PROJECT

Projects will be done with a presentation during the course (20 min. plus discussion chaired by presenters) and a assignment paper (min. 6 pages per group member). Presentations will count for 30% of the final note, the assignment paper will count for 70% of the final note.

Topic of Project: Psychology of Leisure and Tourism - The example of the social construction of the perception of Nature

Natural resources are a major part of the leisure and tourism product. The perception of (indeed the very idea of) nature is however - like all reality - socially constructed.

By understanding how our perception of nature (landscapes instead of land) is shaped by the history of nature perception through media from novels to paintings to postcards we will get a better idea about the mental "programming" of our ways to see and interpret the world.
