Group-orientated tourists becoming important in the 21st century
The international tourists are getting
not only more in absolute numbers, they are also
getting more diversified in country (and culture
of origin).
In 1950, only 1 person out of
1,000 would travel internationally within this
year, now about
6 out of 100 will do so. In 2020 this
percentage will probably rise to 10%.

Until now, tourism science has been
based exclusively on the western ideas of Self-Actualisation
and Authenticity. To understand the new tourists
of the 21st c., this narrow point of view will have
to be expanded.
