 Group presentation

During this course, we have looked at Communication Skills (including the Six Hats tool), Diversity Management Skills and Conflict Management Skills and tried out ways to test them.

Your task is to use all these Skills to develop a testing system as part of an assessment-center for a management post in a bigger tour operator company which includes working in different countries around the world and with customers and colleagues from different backgrounds.

The main working field for the new manager will be negotiating with business partners (service providers, agents etc.) who have not followed procedures with regard to payments.

Please concentrate on developing the modul of the assessment center which concentrates on Communication, Diversity Management and Conflict Management Skills. Other Skill and Know-how checks will be developed by other experts.

Please split up in two groups. Each group should to decide what to do and start developing the assessment center modul. After app. one hour each group will have a separate discussion with Professor Arlt about the developed ideas, than can continue with the detailed work.

Presentations will be given during the last session.

Each group has 70 minutes altogether to test the other group including evaluation, followed by 30 minutes discussion.

A written statement (about 2 pages) about the reasons for the chosen test situations and methods, the evaluation criteria and the expected outcome has to be given to Prof. Arlt before the start. We will compare the written concept with the actual run of the test.
