  Physical features or world resources

More then 70% of the planets surface is covered by oceans - almost no touristic usage

More then 70% of the land surface is covered by mountains - limited touristic usage

Most intensively used areas for tourism are the coastlines of the ocean - competing with other uses

Landscape features (lakes, forests) and cities receive high numbers of tourists especially in temperate climates

Tourism can be described as a 300 years-conquest of all physical features of the planet, which has by now more or less ended: All land and even the orbit around earth has been visited and is open to tourists, only the deep sea remains to be conquered (with preparations already under way) by tourism.
