Hawthorne III - The consequences
In consequence of the Hawthorne experiments (and similar research
elsewhere) Behaviorism became an important element
of management theory, looking at three different
objects:
- the individual person within an organisation,
its behavior and motivation
- the group within an organisation
- the leader within an organisation
By admitting the importance of the "Human Factor" the idea
of "Scientific Management" received a
heavy blow: Ever since management (and management
theory) has to include factors in its calculations
which are by definition uncalculable.
