Definition of Lean Production and Lean Management
"Lean Production" is a concept which was first developed by the
MIT in the late 1980s following an analysis of the
successful production of automobiles in Toyota ("Toyotaism")
and other Japanese companies.
Expanding the idea of "leanness" from
production to the total company, "Lean Management"
is a management concept, which includes the totality
of ways of thinking, working and managing effectively
and efficiently the total chain of value creation.
The goal is to a total integration and optimisation
of all internal and external parts of a company.
