 Example New Zealand

Given the fact that Germany does not possess a clear image nor a single "icon" (Eiffel tower, Acropolis) as a destination, what verbal and non-verbal communication is targeted at potential visitors to Germany by travel agencies which are offering package tours?

Please form groups which will work for one country each (according to language abilities), incl. Austria / Switzerland. One group should analyze the DZTs own communication (in English).

Identify travel agencies in "your" country which offer tours to Germany,

obtain brochures and catalogues from such companies,

analyze the images projected,

compare them with your own knowledge about Germans and Germany.

Each group should consist of 4-6 students. At the final session of the semester a intermediate discussion of findings will take place.

The final paper is to be handed in (by email) as .doc or .pdf document before the end of the examination period (July 12th).

The paper should have 15 - 20 pages (plus photos, example pages etc.).
