Presentation: Perception of "South Sea" Archetype

After the idealisation of nature as pictoresque (f.i. Claude Lorraine),
the man-made production of pictoresque landscapes (f.i. English Gardens),
the loading up of real regions with emotional values (f.i. Romantic Rhine),
now the emotional values of half-preconceived far-away regions are searched for - and found (Gauguin).

The last step then is the de-spatialisation (Enträumlichung) of nature perception - beaches look the same everywhere und postcards transport more information about the tourist than the place.
